Toyota Blade Master G Reviewed

For those that don’t know, the Toyota Blade is a JDM-only upmarket version of the Auris (AKA Corolla) and back in August we reported that Toyota had released the Master G, a high-powered derivative of the Blade that features the 206kW 2GR-FE V6 from the Lexus ES350. Now, Nihon Car have finally managed to get their mitts on one and have published a review and video of the Master G.

While the Master G is undoubtedly powerful (it has the honour of being Toyota’s most powerful front-wheel-drive car), the negative effects of having such a large motor suspended over the front axle would be hard to engineer away. Nihon Car found that the Master G felt heavy and didn’t enjoy being hurried along - unsurprising given its upmarket posture within Toyota’s lineup. It’s more of a powerful cruiser and while straightline performance may be sparkling, the FWD-only drivetrain and lack of a manual transmission means that the Master G is probably better suited to more sedate driving. You can read Nihon Car’s review and also take a look at their video of the Blade Master G here .
