A Change Is In The Air

If you’ve been checking out JPCN recently, you may have been left scratching your head and wondering why, oh why is the content not being updated as regularly as it used to? Well, for those that don’t know it is primarily myself who runs JPCN and lately I’ve been rather busy with writing for car magazines, another blog and my day job. But that’s no reason to neglect you, my dear reader, so there are a few changes that are going to be happening in the near future to make JPCN your one-stop-shop for JDM sports car goodness.

Firstly, the day job is going to have to go. Not right now, mind you, as I still don’t earn anything even approaching a viable income off this blog or any of my other freelance writing jobs. I’m having way too much fun writing about cars to bother with proper employment though, so at some stage I’ll be hanging up my uniform and doing a dirty great big burnout in the staff car park. It’s a shit job anyway and not something that requires a great degree of skill either, so the time freed up by not having to work conventional (and more often than not, unconventional) hours will allow me to spend more time keeping JPCN updated and fresh - something which I hope you guys will appreciate.

Secondly, the site is going to undergo a bit of a transformation to better cover the expanding and ever-changing world of Japanese performance cars. Whereas in the past JPCN has mainly focussed on news from the major manufacturers, JPCN 2.0 will pay more attention to news from the aftermarket industry. I know a lot of you like to modify your rides (after all, ease of modification is one of the things that make Japanese cars so great), so from now on I’ll be informing you a lot more often about what new products are out there.

There’ll be more analysis on the state of the industry and discussion on new tuning trends as well. Don’t think that it’ll just be me spouting whatever it is on my mind for that month either: you’re all invited to email me and ask me questions or even state your opinion on what annoys/angers/turns you on about the world of hi-po automobiles. It’s about time I got you guys more involved in this site, so don’t be afraid to drop me a line and let me know what you want to see.

The site will also be undergoing a bit of a redesign. The current layout is a bit basic, - not to mention difficult to navigate - so that will hopefully be addressed later this year. Like them or not, new advertisers will also be appearing on JPCN too. If I’m going to quit my job this site has got to start paying for itself, and advertisers are the best way of making that happen.
Don’t worry though, there won’t be any ads for Free iPods or Penis Pumps - all potential advertisers will be vetted to ensure that the product they offer is something you guys would actually want. By the way, if you happen to have a Japanese car related product you want to promote or know of somebody who does, send me an email and we can discuss what options are available.

Oh yes, I’ll also be doing my best to bring you more exclusive stories too. I’ve already booked myself a flight to Japan, so if all goes according to plan I’ll be able to get some killer content while I’m there - not to mention some actual prizes for Mystery Cars and whatever other competitions I decide to run. I aim to make at least one visit to JDM-land per year so you can all get a close-up look at what the latest trends are in the birthplace of your car. I’d better start saving up.

That’s all for now. Sorry for the huge post, but I think that you all deserve to know what’s in store for JPCN over the coming year. I’ve got big ambitions for this site which should hopefully translate into a better experience for readers every time they visit. After all, without readers like you JPCN is nothing so I’d like to thank all of you for taking the time to visit my humble site. Y’all come back now, y’hear?

Why don’t you set up a little shop online, slap some JPCN logos on some shirts and sell? Some shirt/cup/etc. companies don’t even need you to buy inventory to sell. Maybe sell some crack items you get from Japan.

Yeah, I was thinking about merchandising as a possible income stream. You know, stickers, commemorative spoons, G-strings and the like. Could be a winner ;)

As for the Japanese stuff my only real limitation is the amount of spare space in my luggage. I plan to combat this by mainly buying schoolgirls panties from vending machines, which should compress down to a negligible size. Panties make good prizes.

Nice blog by the way, very informative!

Heck its not like you don’t know at least two designers who could help you with t-shirt/sticker/site design.

I’m excited to see what you have in store for the site!

Ahhhg I get it! You guys want T-Shirts!

I’ll get right on it :p
