If you were in any doubt about the performance potential of Nissan’s new GT-R, then take note: ECU company Haltech have proved that the standard package is good for a low 11-second timeslip with nothing more than some fuel and ignition timing tweaks.
Haltech took their R35 down to Wester Sydney International Dragway over the weekend to bust out some runs and see how their ECU improved the GT-R’s performance. On the first run they managed to produce a very impressive 11.124 ET with a 200.94kph trap speed. Further runs were logged at 11.5-11.8 seconds due to some complications with the GT-R’s launch control system, which is about par with a completely standard R35. Haltech’s only modifications to the car are in their cracked ECU which features revised fuel and timing maps and piggy-backs onto the standard ECU, which handles the complex ATTESA system as well as the ABS, climate control and instruments. The interior is intact and despite previously sporting a custom exhaust system, Haltech decided to re-fit the stock pipes after noticing the aftermarket exhaust provided little to no gain.
It’s an impressive feat for such an easily-carried-out modification. Without opening up the engine, the GT-R is already but a hair’s breadth away from becoming a 10-second car. Vin Diesel would be proud.

wow nice article, sounds exciting just reading it, nice update about the race….
My Series 6 rx-7 is the same. Just change the ECU (and boost to 1.1)and you have an 11 second car.
