As if creating their very own 370Z replica wasn’t enough for the rumour-holics over at Best Car magazine, they’re now spreading word that Nissan may introduce a flagship V8 model to the Z34 lineup.

Shinjiro Yukawa, the Chief of Production for the Z34 project, told Best Car that a V8 model could appear as a special edition and may also feature a retro “G-Nose” much like that fitted to the 370Z’s great grand-daddy, the 240ZG. A V8 isn’t beyond the realms of possibility either. Top Secret famously dropped a twin-turbocharged 4.5-litre VK45DE V8 into a V35 Skyline (which used the same chassis as the 350Z), while the Fuga (aka Infiniti M) rolls on a stretched version of the Z’s FM Platform and is currently available in 450GT trim with the VK45DE .

As for the standard VQ37VHR-powered Z, BC report that it’ll come in Version S and Version ST flavour in addition to the base model. The S and ST will essentially be the modern analogue to the present-day 350Z Track, with Brembo calipers (6 piston fronts, 4 piston rears) clamping larger discs hiding behind 19-inch wheels. Weight is expected to be 100kg less than the Z33, which should help performance immeasurably. Price is expected to range between ¥3,700,000 for the base model and over ¥5,000,000 for the V8.
