Naked: 2010 Acura NSX finally revealed in the flesh?

Is this the new 2010 Acura NSX? The lads over at Auto Express certainly think so, and considering these are virtually the same images as those published by Holiday Auto last week, we’re inclined to upgrade their status from “Third Party Rendering” to “Official Press Image”.

So it looks like this is the real deal then, Honda’s latest and greatest incarnation of the NSX nameplate. I’ve got to say I’m a little underwhelmed with this one, and I’m particularly unenthused by the front headlight design. I was secretly hoping the finished product would turn out much like Larson’s rendering - slightly boring, yet sleek - but instead it’s overly fussy and looks slightly cross-eyed.

There is one glimmer of hope though: the door handles on this NSX are just below the shoulder crease, whereas on the camouflaged prototype they were slightly above it. It could just be the result of an artistic error from Honda’s designers or some clever camouflaging on the prototype, but it does raise the prospect that these images may not represent the final design of the NSX.

Auto Express report that things are much rosier under the NSX’s skin, with its 5.5-litre V10 pumping out 600hp and 600Nm and a twin-clutch 6-speed rear transaxle taking power to the rear wheels. It should be a cracking drive once it arrives in a year or so, however it may take the buying public a while to warm to the new NSX’s design.
