If you’re a bit of a motorsports fiend and regularly track your car, you’ll no doubt be aware of the perils of oil starvation. Under hard acceleration, cornering and braking, oil can slosh away from the oil pump pickup and result in some rather undesirable outcomes like excessive conrod-to-block interaction or, if you’re lucky, a spun bearing.

JUN have come to the rescue though, with their new baffled sumps for Mitsubishi’s Evo X-spec 4B11 (right) and Honda’s B16B and B18C (below left). The internal baffles help keep oil from draining away from the pickup during high-G manouvres and installation is as easy as removing the old sump and attaching the JUN item.

JUN have also released a weld-in baffled insert for Honda’s K20A (below right) that performs much the same function as the sumps with less cost, but marginally more hassle.

Both the 4B11 sump and the B-series sump are available now from JUN for ¥44,100. The K20A sump insert is slightly cheaper at ¥40,950, however you will need to factor in the cost of installation if you’re not a DIY-er.
