If you thought that SR20-powered Toyota Aristo speedway racer was weird, then check this out. It seems that some Japanese dude decided that his bright purple luxo-sedan with colour-coded Work Euroline rims wasn’t enough of an attention grabbing ride, so he did what any man in his position would do… he grafted the tailgate section and rear windows from a Ford Taurus wagon onto the back. Of course.
Kudos goes to Mike Garrett of Auto Otaku fame for stumbling upon this pearler of a find. It’s the first example of a wagon-ised Aristo that I’ve ever seen, and I’m sure it’ll be the first for all of you too. I don’t dig the purple rims, but it must be said that the Taurus rear does a good job of adding some serious junk to this Aristo’s trunk. Talk about a badonk-a-donk.
It’s unusual, yes, but for some strange reason I find myself warming to it the more I look at it. Then again, I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for the ol’ Aristo.
As for the wagon conversion itself, well, it ain’t perfect that’s for sure. Then again, it’s not completely terrible either, and the Taurus’s organic curves at least go some of the way to matching those of the Aristo.
What say you? Is a tailgate-equipped Aristo awesome, or awful?

Err, it looks pretty weird from the front… those Taurus windows don’t seem to match the rest of the Aristo’s glasshouse very well.
I reckon those rims are sweet though! Very gangsta.
