While it may be one of the more expensive Japanese sports cars, the Lexus SC430 is sadly far from being the prettiest. Its bulbous, over-inflated bodywork and the stylistic compromises necessitated by that electric folding hardtop have relegated the poor ol’ SC430 to being the ugly duckling in the Lexus lineup, but thanks to a number of aftermarket body addenda that can easily be changed.
Blitz have now added to the range of third-party bodykits for the SC430 with their recent release of a new front bumper lip and mesh grille for the drop-top Lexo. The front lip is available in either urethane or carbon-fibre, while the grille surround is made of the lightweight weave as well.
As you would expect, pricing is not cheap for these bits. A urethane front lip will set you back ¥60,900, while a carbon-fibre version of the same part will cost you a huge ¥102,900. The carbon-fibre and steel mesh grille is rather expensive too and sports a sticker price of ¥68,250, plus another ¥15,750 if you opt for the fibreglass "ornament base" too. They’re minor add-ons, sure, but they certainly add some spice to the SC’s otherwise plain exterior. That grille alone makes a huge difference, and is a marked improvement over the standard slatted item.
