Hawt: 2010 Acura NSX Rendered In Super GT Mode

Although it’s been out of production for near on three years, Honda’s legendary NSX still does battle on the circuits of Japans Super GT touring car series.

Racing in the GT500 category, the Super GT NSX’s aren’t exactly what you’d call factory-issue. Nearly everything is changed. The V6 engine sits longitudinally rather than being transversely mounted, displacement is upped to 3.5 litres and the Super GT racer sits lower and wider than the its road-going cousin.

The NA2 NSX’s replacement is still some way off, but that hasn’t stopped graphics whiz-kid Jon Sibal from rendering his own take on what the 2010 Acura NSX might look like in GT500 livery. With its big wheels, big fenders and big aero, Jon’s NSX ticks all the right Super GT boxes and the finished car looks great in Takata Dome colours. The glowing rotors certainly help too.

Sibal’s work is a faithful homage to the existing racer (below), and if the next-gen NSX ever graces the circuits of the Super GT series in a form similar to this we’ll be mighty pleased indeed. For all you wannabe renderers, Sibal’s put together a step-by-step mini-tutorial of how he developed this particular image, and you can check it out at his blog here.
