The cat’s outta the bag folks. Preliminary specs of the low-fat, ginseng-infused GT-R Spec-V have been revealed and boy, do they make for interesting reading.

Much of what was previously speculated has been confirmed, with the Spec-V receiving a small bump in power, a substantial reduction in weight, carbon-ceramic brakes and upgraded versions of the standard car’s Bilstein Damptronic shock absorbers. There’s been many other changes too, so hit the jump to check ‘em out.

  • Expected Release date: January 8, 2009

Those not afraid of turning a wrench will likely turn up their nose at the Spec-V’s paltry 4kW power increase - particularly given that so much more power is already available for so much less from a number of aftermarket tuning companies. Still, the combination of low weight and those revalved dampers has reportedly allowed the GT-R to shave a full two seconds off the standard car’s time around the Sendai Highland circuit. Nurburgring laptimes have yet to be released but if the Spec-V can cut off a couple of seconds around a 4km-long Japanese circuit, just imagine how much time it could save around the 20+km Green Hell. Corvette ZR1, you have been warned.
